CRM Tracking Emails with an attachment that contains an ampersand in the name of the attachment

When you track a received e-mail message or when you send a tracked e-mail message in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you receive the error message 'An error occurred promoting this item to Microsoft Dynamics CRM'. This problem occurs if e-mail message contains an attachment with an ampersand (&) character in the name.

Solution/Workaround

At the time of writing there is a supported Hotfix available from Microsoft Customer Service and Support.
