About TigerRidge - Adopted Charity

The Adopted Charity Program

Many smaller charities could benefit tremendously from the improved communication and exposure from a well-designed Web site and IT system. However, they often lack the skills or resources to develop these areas and to keep them updated.

TigerRidge began our adopted charity program to fill this gap by offering our consulting and Web development services in addition to supporting fund-raising for our chosen charity.

In addition to our "regular" paid work for charities (see IT Consulting Services for Charities and Other NFP Organisations for details), we aim to support a new charity partner every year or two, choosing among smaller organisations that offer innovative and greatly needed work for causes that are close to our hearts but which can not afford to pay for IT help.

New Approaches to Cancer became our first adopted charity in 2003.

A registered charity, New Approaches to Cancer acts as an umbrella for a national network of hundreds of self-help groups, volunteers and holistic practitioners. The group offers help and information to the public and to health professionals. It also supports regular two-way contact with the world's leading specialists in holistic cancer care.

New Approaches to Cancer encourages a way of living that lowers the risks of developing cancer and promotes healing in those who have developed the disease. Through a phone help line, they can give initial information about cancer, soothe fears, explain uncertainties and – most importantly – give hope when it is most needed. They maintain and distribute a vast amount of information and organise support groups, complementary therapy sessions, yoga and relaxation classes, meditation sessions and regular talks. In addition, they put callers in touch with their local support groups and with specialist clinics, both here and abroad.

We have worked with New Approaches to Cancer to update their Web site (www.anac.org.uk) and IT infrastructure, and continue to update the website (and offer additional support where required) on an ongoing basis.

If any of our customers or suppliers would like to help in any way or would like to know more, please contact Anne at the TigerRidge office.

If you represent a UK charity based in the south of England that can not afford professional IT support but could benefit from our help, please contact us giving details of your charity and the work you do.  We can't guarantee that we will be able to help, but we will consider each request individually and offer help where we can.
